Hello everyone. My name is Marisa DeCollibus and am delighted to be a part of EDC 102H as well as as a part of the URI community. While I am here, I'm interested in studying how the Education system can better serve its students needs. This interest is yet to have shaped into a major but I know for me, it will require studies in psychology, education, peace and non-violence, and possibly public policy. During my senior year of High School I spent a lot of time trying to understand how mindfulness and yoga practices in the classroom can help get students into a "ready to learn" state of mind. I'd like to include some of these techniques and modes of social and emotional learning in my future studies.
Besides all of that, I love the ocean and compete on the URI Sailing Team. I am from North Kingstown R.I and have lived their in the same white picket-fenced cape for my entire life, until now that is. I consider myself to be a people person and, people in general, rival the ocean as my greatest love.
